Choose Chicago releases 2023 visitors guide featuring can’t-miss Chicago spots chosen by Shermann “Dilla” Thomas
Release of Annual Visitors Guide comes as Choose Chicago looks to build on strong tourism recovery numbers from 2022
CHICAGO, IL (February 9, 2023) – Choose Chicago, in collaboration with tourism marketing agency Miles Partnership, is excited to release the 2023 Chicago Visitors Guide. With 68 jampacked pages full of attractions, amenities and activities, the Visitors Guide is the perfect resource to help visitors experience the Best Big City in the U.S. New to the 2023 Visitors Guide is a list of Can’t Miss Local Chicago Spots chosen by Shermann “Dilla” Thomas, TikTok’s Urban Historian, including Dilla’s recommendations for the best under-the-radar pieces of Chicago history and the best neighborhoods for history buffs. A digital version of the 2023 Visitors Guide is available on the Choose Chicago website and free printed copies are available for order.

The 2023 Chicago Visitors Guide features a wide variety of recommendations for all types of visitors to Chicago. In addition to Dilla’s favorite local places, the guide includes Chicago’s top festivals and events each season, can’t miss museum exhibitions and theatre recommendations and tips on how to explore Chicago’s two fabulous waterfronts. It also features recommendations for experiencing Chicago’s neighborhoods, a Chicago Pride Guide, free things to do in Chicago, a guide to family fun, a feature on Chicago’s global and diverse cuisine, a two-day itinerary to experience the best in Chicago culture, an overview of the accessible ways to get around Chicago and so much more.

I am excited to be a part of the Choose Chicago Visitors Guide and show off some of my favorite local places.” The release of the 2023 Chicago Visitors Guide comes as Choose Chicago is looking to build on a successful year of recovery for Chicago tourism in 2022. Hotel room demand in 2022 totaled over 9.9 million room nights, which is 61% higher than 2021 and represents an 82% recovery share compared to pre-pandemic 2019. Ranked by year-over-year room demand growth across our top 10 competitive markets, Chicago was the third-fastest growing urban market. Additionally, hotel revenue increased to $2.29 billion in 2022, which is more than double 2021 levels and reflects a 93% recovery share compared to 2019.
Total visitation numbers for 2022 will be available later in 2023.
