Chicago to Host 2025 Premier League Summer Series Soccer Matches at Soldier Field for First Time
Four Premier League teams to play at Soldier Field on July 30 as part of highly anticipated pre-season tournament
Chicago (March 9, 2025) – Today, the Chicago Sports Commission joined the Premier League to announce that the Premier League Summer Series is returning to the United States in 2025. Chicago has been named as one of three U.S. hosts of the second edition of this pre-season tournament, which will bring world-class soccer and a Premier League matchday experience to fans.
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Chicago’s Soldier Field will host a double-header featuring four Premier League clubs – AFC Bournemouth, Everton, Manchester United, and West Ham United. This will be Chicago’s first time hosting a matchup of Premier League teams and comes after record-breaking attendance at the Premier League Mornings Live fan festival in Lincoln Park last September.
“Chicago is the greatest sports city in America, and I am thrilled to join the Chicago Sports Commission in welcoming the Premier League to Soldier Field this summer,” said Mayor Brandon Johnson. “This event will showcase the beauty and diversity of Chicago to viewers around the world and demonstrate our ability to host major high-profile events of all varieties.”
This is the second Premier League Summer Series to take place in the United States. In July 2023, more than 265,000 fans watched Premier League clubs compete in the first Stateside tournament. Chelsea FC were the inaugural Premier League Summer Series champions.
Chicago is the only new city to be hosting Premier League Summer Series matches this year. Each leg of this year’s round-robin format tournament will involve all four teams playing double-headers at each location.
The Summer Series will kick off on Saturday, July 26 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey when Everton take on AFC Bournemouth, and Manchester United face West Ham United. The teams then head to Soldier Field in Chicago for West Ham United vs. Everton and Manchester United vs AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday, July 30. The final leg of the tournament will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sunday, August 3 when AFC Bournemouth play West Ham United and Manchester United face Everton.
“We are delighted to be bringing the Premier League Summer Series back to the United States,” said Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters. “We know from our previous tournament and Premier League Mornings Live events that we and our clubs have incredibly loyal and passionate fans in the U.S. who get up early to follow their teams during the season. In these four clubs we have world-class players and managers who will undoubtedly give supporters a fantastic Premier League experience just before the season starts.”
The news of the Premier League Summer Series heading to Chicago builds on the success of Premier League Mornings Live, which saw a record crowd of fans in Lincoln Park last September. This two-day fan festival featured live match broadcasts and appearances from Premier League legends. The announcement also adds to Chicago’s robust calendar of global events this year – in February, the Chicago Sports Commission announced that Ireland and the All Blacks will be returning to Chicago for an international rugby match in November.
“We have a long track record of bringing major national and global sporting events to Chicago,” said Kara Bachman, Executive Director of the Chicago Sports Commission. “The Premier League Summer Series is a perfect follow-up event to last year’s Premier League Mornings Live Fan Festival in Lincoln Park, and a wonderful precursor to our welcoming an historic international rugby match to the same venue later in the year.”
A single ticket purchase for each venue will give fans a seat for both matches of the double-header, meaning supporters get to watch all four teams in action. Ticket registration is now open and tickets for all matches will be available via pre-sale from 10am ET on Thursday, March 13. General ticket sales will begin at 10 am ET on Friday, March 14. Starting today, fans can receive real-time ticketing updates, news and additional information about supporting events in their area by registering at www.premierleague.com/summerseries.
