Recipient of the 2011 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre, Lookingglass has been creating unforgettable theatre in Chicago for more than twenty-five years. Lookingglass’ intimate 200-seat theater is located inside the historic Water Tower Pumping Station on Michigan Avenue.
Original scripts created by Lookingglass’ artists have been presented by prominent theatres all over the country including in New York City and Los Angeles. Notable world premieres include Mary Zimmerman’s Tony Award-winning “Metamorphoses,” “The Arabian Nights,” and “The Odyssey,” David Schwimmer’s adaptations of Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle” and Studs Terkel’s “Race,” and David Catlin’s family-friendly circus-infused tribute to Lewis Carroll, “Lookingglass Alice.”
