One of Chicago’s most beautiful assets, its expansive shoreline, is on display in its full glory from the Lakefront Trail. An impressive 18-mile-long stretch, Chicago’s Lakefront Trail is a paved path that extends from Ardmore Street on the North Side to 71st Street on the South Side. Run, walk, bike or rollerblade with the blue waters of Lake Michigan to one side and gorgeous, green parks to the other. There’s so much to soak in in addition to the skylines views — pass by peaceful boat harbors, serene nature sanctuaries, bustling boardwalks and more. Along the trail are parks, beaches and gardens; recreation areas including playgrounds, soccer fields, volleyball nets and tennis courts; and amenities like washrooms, drinking fountains and concession stands. Go on urban trek as you traverse through several lakefront neighborhoods including Edgewater, Uptown, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, South Loop, Bronzeville and Hyde Park — or just pick a spot off the trail to relax and enjoy the cityscape.
