The Evanston Art Center Announces – Victoria Yau Retrospective
The Evanston Art Center (EAC) is excited to welcome the public toVictoria Yau Retrospective
On April 5th, the Evanston Art Center will open an exhibition celebrating the works of the late Victoria Yau, a long-time resident of Evanston and one of the earliest Asian-American contemporary abstract artists. Born in Shanghai in 1939, Yau worked across a variety of media, including ink, watercolor, and multimedia collages. This exhibition will showcase a broad range of her works, highlighting her dedication to her craft.
The exhibition will also coincide with the dedication of the Maker Lab for Digital Media room in her honor. In addition to being a prolific artist, Yau volunteered at the Evanston Art Center in the 1970s, contributing her time and talents to help further the center’s mission.
Victoria Yau Retrospective will be exhibited in the Second Floor Main and Atrium Galleries of the Art Center. The opening reception is free and open to the public. This exhibition is partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the EAC’s general membership.
