2-3 pm – Sustainable Fashion Film Premier

3-4:30 pm – Mending Café

5-6 pm – C3 Program Happy Hour

6-7 pm – C3 Sustainability Leadership Training Info Session

About Each Event Running:

The Nature Museum Exhibits

The Sustainable Fashion Week Hub Chicago will have a pop-up inside the Nature Museum’s Sustainability Center from September 20-29th between the museum’s operating hours, 10 am – 4 pm.

The exhibit will have a curation of books from Chicago Public Libraries on sustainable fashion. Other interactive and educational activities include videos, photo ops, local resources, and more!

Visit the exhibit during the Museum’s normal hours. Admission is included in the Museum’s standard ticket prices and membership.

Clothing Swap With Fat Friends Of Chicago: Sizes XS-6X

In partnership with Fat Friends Of Chicago, the SFW Hub Chicago presents a size-inclusive clothing event. Items range from XS-6X.

About Fat Friends Of Chicago:

Fat Friends Of Chicago is a group of Chicagoans dedicated to combatting fatphobia, by creating a fat community that is disability and gender-inclusive while cultivating fat joy and ensuring more people have size representation at sustainable and community-based events.

This is an anti-diet & fat-positive space. We don’t discuss Intentional Weight Loss or diets.

Film Premier

Additional details will be live soon. The premier is free and the recommended ages are 14+.

Mending Café

Learn basic mending and sewing skills. This workshop is free to the public and museum pass holders. Attendees will learn how to sew on buttons, repair holes, and use patches. Additional information will be available soon.

 

Happy Hour & C3 Sustainability Leadership Training Info Session

Join the Sustainable Fashion Week Chicago Hub and the Nature Museum’s Chicago Conservation Corp (C3) team as they provide a free information session on what it means and looks like to be a local environmental leader.

C3’s Sustainability Leadership Training is a way to spark change within the community.

If accepted into this program, participants will receive training from C3 Experts, representing established organizations already doing sustainability work. After completing the Sustainability Leadership Training, participants then become C3 Leaders who can act as sustainability champions within their communities and receive funds to work on sustainability projects. Additionally, individualized museum staff support will be provided. Those who complete this training will be able to utilize those resources for an unlimited number of sustainability projects.

Participation Requirements:

  • Age 18+
  • Attend ONE information session (or watch a recorded one)
  • Submit a simple online application

The information in the course focuses on the city of Chicago, but anyone in the region is welcome to apply and attend the information session.
