Some Sort of Saint

“Some Sort of Saint” is a powerful new play based on the true story of Dr. Mica Battle’s life on the Southside of Chicago written by Linda Bright Clay and James Crumb produced by Bridge to Freedom and GLP Productions at Definition Theatre.

Mica lands in prison after losing her husband and struggling with a heroin addiction. As she fights through withdrawal she finds a faithful friend in the prison chaplain. The audience follows Mica as she grapples with her past trauma, watching her battle the darkness that threatens to consume her. Will she rise above, or be overcome by the shadows that haunt her?

All ticket sales and donations will go to Bridge to Freedom (B2F). B2F’s goal is to reduce recidivism. It is a prison reentry non-profit that helps returning citizens with housing, jobs and life skills to ensure they don’t return to the prison system

This project is partially supported by a Together We Heal Creative Place grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events and the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Justice.
