Reimagining Cabaret—Jazz, Rhythm and Blues
The national award-winning Black Voices in Cabaret highlights Black entertainers in the world of Cabaret, both past and present. Cabaret is the place where audience comes face to face with dancers, spoken-word artists, gender-fluid entertainers, musicians, magicians, variety artists, and singers. Cabaret embraces all entertainment genres, such as Rhythm and Blues, Spoken Word, Soul, Gospel, Jazz, Classical song, and more.
We provide a Black lens into Cabaret and the world of entertainment by raising the recognition afforded African-American cabaret performers. bringing their performances to communities in the Chicago area and beyond, and engaging with audiences through intimate performances, seminars, and events.
