Orbit Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic A Tribute to Duke Ellingtonia

In a momentous celebration of its 20th Anniversary and Black History Month, the Orbert Davis’s Chicago Jazz Philharmonic proudly presents the world premiere of Ellingtonia to commemorate the legacy of the legendary Duke Ellington on the 50th anniversary of his passing at heart of the Chicago’s historic Austin community Kehrein Center for the Arts (KCA) 5628 W. Washington Blvd on Saturday, February 8, from 1 PM and 7 PM. 

This extraordinary performance will honor the music, grace, dignity, and royal essence of Ellington and his esteemed orchestra. Ellingtonia, named after the iconic compilation album that traces Duke Ellington’s illustrious career—from his first recording session in July 1923 to his final concert in March 1974. The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic’s collaboration with the KCA, complemented by donor-sponsored $1 tickets, underscores CJP’s commitment to removing barriers to access in the arts. Audiences will be treated to two dynamic performances featuring small group arrangements played by talented members of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, under the artistic direction of Orbert Davis. Joining Davis on stage will be an exceptional ensemble including Leandro López Várady (piano), John Moulder (guitar), Stewart Miller (bass), Ernie Adams (drums), Zara Zaharieva (violin), Steve Eisen (flute, tenor sax), Kevin King (tenor sax, bass clarinet), Bobbi Wilsyn (vocals), and Bernard Lilly, Jr. (vocals).
