One Earth Film Festival 2025
The fest launches on Earth Day, April 22, with an impactful celebration at Sarabande Chicago, featuring filmmaker toasts, opening remarks from Chicago Chief Sustainability Officer Angela Tovar, and – to uplift the venue’s proximity to the Chicago River’s North Branch – a Young Filmmakers-winning short, Ocean Monologue, will be screened. A brief keynote address about the Chicago River will be delivered by the award-winning Shermann “Dilla” Thomas – Chicago’s favorite historian, viral TikTok sensation, and author and host of Everything Dope About America Comes From Chicago. Guests will also be invited to engage in a water-inspired interactive community art project by the Nowhere Collective.
With a diverse lineup of films, interactive panels, and community-driven events, the fest unfolds with a powerful week of action, showcasing 25 films at 20+ locations across the greater Chicago area.
The annual Earth Day Action Fair at the Chicago Cultural Center will precede a screening of the acclaimed film The Grab, offering opportunities for community activism on April 27.
