Live Performance: Davis Plays Ellington

Join Chicago’s Emmy Award-winning trumpeter, composer, and educator Orbert Davis for an unforgettable tribute to jazz legend Duke Ellington. More than a pianist, Ellington used his orchestra as his instrument, shaping the sound of American music for over five decades. His compositions captured the struggles and triumphs of African Americans while celebrating love, joy, and resilience.

For this special evening, Orbert Davis & Friends will bring Ellington’s genius to life with a dynamic ensemble featuring violin, tenor saxophone, flute, piano, guitar, bass, drums, and two incredible vocalists. Sip on a signature cocktail and dance the night away as they perform fresh arrangements of Ellington’s most iconic works, blending timeless swing with masterful improvisation.
