Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra Presents “The Four Seasons”


The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra invites you to a breathtaking winter concert, featuring two timeless masterpieces that explore the seasons of the year in vivid musical detail. Under the baton of Music Director and Conductor, Stephen Alltop, the orchestra will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. The performance is dedicated to the memory of Keith Olson, a beloved supporter of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra.

Cynthia Freivogel, Violin – Making her Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra solo debut, Cynthia Freivogel is an acclaimed American violinist currently based in Amsterdam.
Rika Seko, Violin – Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra’s Concertmaster Rika Seko will shine in Piazzolla’s work, bringing the fiery rhythms of Buenos Aires to life.

The concert offers a unique pairing of works that represent the four seasons in two distinct musical languages:
Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons: First published in 1725, Vivaldi’s iconic set of violin concertos is known for its vivid depictions of nature. Listeners will experience frozen landscapes, buzzing bees, singing birds, and warm winter fires through the music.
Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires: Inspired by Vivaldi’s masterwork, Piazzolla’s compositions infuse the traditional seasonal themes with the spirit of tango, blending classical music with Argentine passion.
