Culture Chronicles
Wrap yourself in a vibrant tapestry of cultural heritage, family, and belonging as composers past and present weave their personal stories into their music in “Culture Chronicles.” Conducted by Vinay Parameswaran, he leads the Sinfonietta in Gabriela Lena Frank’s Elegia Andina (“Andean Elegy”), bringing her Peruvian upbringing to life. Juan Pablo Contreras pays heartfelt tribute to Dia de los Muertos and Mexican traditions in Alma Monarca (“Monarch Soul”), a Sinfonietta co-commission and Chicago Premiere. The evening culminates with Dvořák’s cheerful Symphony No. 8, a celebration of Bohemian folk music.
