Chicago Triathlon adds supertri Pro League Event ahead of August!
supertri, the innovative and entertaining professional closed league formats that redefined the sport – delivering fast, technical and tactical racing featuring the world’s best athletes competing in teams on stadium-like courses – is expanding in North America with two new events. One of those two events will debut in Chicago alongside the Chicago Triathlon with the supertri Chicago race on Sunday, August 25. This event will be part of a five-stop League that will see the world’s best professional athletes racing fast, technical and tactical racing just weeks after competing in the 2024 Olympics.
The supertri Chicago event will be raced in true supertri format, which sees athletes compete three continuous rounds of full gas swim-bike-run. Elite star American athletes will be in attendance and will compete, including Olympic medallist Katie Zaferes, along a USA team.
In addition to this inaugural race, the full weekend of events surrounding the Chicago Triathlon also includes a SuperSprint race and Kids Tri Chicago race on Saturday, August 24, as well as a Sprint race and International race on Sunday, August 25. The Chicago Triathlon, owned and operated by supertri, is the largest urban triathlon in the United States, hosting more than 8,500 athletes and thousands of spectators in the heart of the Windy City. Recently having celebrated its 40th anniversary, this unique course starts in Lake Michigan, winds through the streets of the city and finishes in the middle of Grant Park. Also known for its accessibility to beginners and seasoned athletes alike, the Chicago Triathlon offers a welcoming environment for participants of all skill levels.
supertri CEO and Co-Founder, Michael D’hulst, said: “supertri has set the benchmark for triathlon and turned the passion of our founders of creating a true spectator sport into a reality. Our vision is to ‘Inspire The Competitor In Everyone’, and nobody does this better than the amazing professional athletes that will come into supertri off the back of the Olympics and be ready to go full gas from the start.”
“We are focused on growth in key markets such as Chicago, and having an event here in the Windy City is a significant step forward, as we continue to visit iconic locations and also have the opportunity to truly inspire by bringing the supertri stardust to mass participation events. We cannot wait to be part of the wave of momentum for spectator and broadcast friendly race formats that redefine the sport.”
This year will be supertri’s 6th full season. Once supertri concludes the 2024 US leg of their league schedule, supertri will head to Europe for third editions of supertri events, followed by NEOM, Saudi Arabia, where supertri continues to grow the sport.
