Annual Race Against Gun Violence
On Thursday, June 6, Strides for Peace will host its Annual Race Against Gun Violence in Chicago’s Grant Park. The Race Against Gun Violence was created in 2018 to build a new platform to support community organizations and bring people together around the shared vision of a Chicago free from the fear of gun violence. Past race sponsors include JP Morgan Chase & Co., Advocate Aurora Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Chicago CRED, HISCOX, Southland Rise, and more.
The Race Against Gun Violence raises unrestricted funds and awareness of the work being done day-by-day by grassroots organizations across the city to build a Chicago where all can thrive. It offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to choose hope, celebrate the progress we are making together, and bring out the best of our city.
To date, over 30 community organizations have committed to participating in this year’s Race Against Gun Violence, including BUILD, CAASE, Challenge II Change, C.H.A.M.P.S. Mentoring Program, Chicago Adventure Therapy, Chicago Survivors, Emerald South, Everytown Survivor Network, Gary Comer Youth Center, HelloBaby, Hyde Park Kenwood Interfaith Council – Antiviolence Task Force, I AM A GENTLEMAN, Kids Off the Block, KLEO, Legacy Disciple, NeighborScapes, New Community Outreach, Paving the Way Project Inc., Purpose Over Pain, Project H.O.O.D., Ring of Hope, SHE Chicago, Sunshine Gospel Ministries, Swervin Through Stress, Target Area, The Base, The Healing, This is Life, Together Chicago, West Town Bikes, Work Foundation, YMEN, and more.
