Channyn Lynne Parker is a leading human rights advocate and the visionary CEO of Brave Space Alliance, the pioneering Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ center on Chicago’s South Side. Her career began with notable achievements as the first openly transgender woman at the Cook County Department of Corrections, advocating for the rights of those in protective custody. She has also held significant roles at The Broadway Youth Center and Chicago House Social Service Agency.

At Howard Brown Health Center, Channyn served as the Director of Strategic Relations, leading efforts to enhance clinic outreach and extend vaccination access during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her tenure marked a historic moment on the Executive Leadership team, emphasizing her trailblazing impact.

Channyn’s leadership extends beyond Brave Space Alliance through her roles on the Illinois Commission on Poverty Elimination and Economic Security, the Commission on Hate Crimes and Discrimination, and the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood. Her dedication to reproductive rights, healthcare access, and bodily autonomy is unwavering.

Her contributions have earned her significant recognition, including the inaugural Trans100 award, the Humanitarian Freedom Award from Equality Illinois, commendations from Mayor Lori Lightfoot, and acknowledgment from Mayor Brandon Johnson.
